Les Gascous is a large 14th century house, in the beautiful Aude department of South Western France, recently renovated and set in 5 acres of very private, peaceful gardens. Featuring a large salt water swimming pool and outside dining areas with stunning and panoramic views of the Pyrenees and surrounding countryside.
Sleeping up to twelve, this fully furnished property has five bedrooms and three bathrooms, a large well-equipped farmhouse kitchen, comfy drawing room, informal dining room, library and formal dining area, outside BBQ and open sided barn leading onto the terrace and pool.
The five bedrooms include a four poster double bedroom, large family bedroom, a spacious modern bedroom with bespoke furniture ultra King size bed and balcony, twin attic rooms and a separate very private barn conversion boasting an expansive modern en-suite bedroom.
Easily accessed from airports in either Toulouse or the walled city of Carcassonne, the house is only ten minutes away from stunning medieval town of Mirepoix with its many restaurants and traditional market. This property provides all the home comforts needed within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Along with extensive walking and cycling trails there are many other activities you can enjoy close to Les Gascous such as: wine tasting, climbing and water sports at lake Lac de Montbel, parachuting and flying at Pujuls, or skiing at Monts d'Olmes or AX-3 Domaines ; only an hour away – truly the perfect base for all your needs!
In addition to the wealth of activities, breathtaking countryside, the history and architecture which surrounds the property, there are also local festivals and events that take place throughout the year in Mirepoix, Carcassonne and Toulouse, including hosting a rest point for the Tour de France in July – see our activities page. Additionally, there are bespoke packages available for retreats in yoga, mindfulness and writing, either for professionals to hire or groups of friends to share. OUR ROOMS
Les Gascous has: central heating throughout, Wi-Fi, Telephone, CD player, fully equipped laundry, hair dryer, 2 high chairs and 2 cots. All linen and towels are provided.
Master Bedroom 1
The first of the two master bedrooms is spacious and light, accessed by a spiral staircase with amazing views from the balcony. The modern finish includes a bespoke super-king bed, sofa and large wardrobe
Master Bedroom 2
The second master bedroom offers a king size four poster bed, in a classic French room with plenty of space and storage
Family Bedroom
The large French style family room is the perfect size and includes a king double bed and two full sized singles, along with plenty of storage.
Twin Attic Bedroom
On the top floor there is a modern and comfortable large twin bedroom with Velux window, the bed can be used as a double or 2 singles.
Barn Bedroom
The studio room is set in a spacious barn conversion next to the main house. There is a double bed which can be split to form 2 single beds and has a beautiful en-suite bathroom.
Lounge
Wonderfully atmospheric with the original walls and timber ceiling, large log burner, comfortable corner sofa suite, satellite television and DVD player – perfect for cosy evenings!
Farmhouse Kitchen
Large well equipped farmhouse kitchen decorated in the traditional style including a classic French wooden table seating twelve. All facilities are designed to cater for large parties and include: gas hob with electric oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer washing machine, fridge, freezer, combination microwave, espresso machine, kettle, toaster, music and much much more….
Open Barn
The open barn is set up to make the most of outdoor living. In addition to a large BBQ there is also a fridge and a large dining table. It also offers some welcome shade on those hot summer days.
