The medieval town of Mirepoix is steeped in history. Mirepoix was disastrously flooded in 1279 and in 1289, Guy de Lévis rebuilt the town on the left banks of the river, with a large central square, Place du Maréchal-Leclerc. It's is here you will find the weekly market on a Monday which is well worth a look along with taking in the architecture and a look at the Cathédrale Saint-Maurice de Mirepoix.
